How to Change your Subjects Online
Go to the Student Portal and follow the prompts.
You will need to enter your University email and login in the appropriate fields. If you are unsure of your login, this can be reset via the accounts website at accounts.unimelb.edu.au/.
The opening and closing dates for online subject changes are posted on the Faculty of Arts website when available for the coming semester. (It is usually the week prior to and first two weeks of relevant semester.)
Some subjects may be restricted and require you to obtain approval from the teaching School prior to enrolling. Subject restrictions are noted in the subject description in the Undergraduate Course and Subject Handbook. The Portal will also present you with a warning message if you are unable to add a particular subject online. In this case, it is necessary to present the School's approval in writing/email to the Student Centre in order to have the subject manually added to your record.
What Do I Do If I Have Problems With My Timetable?
After making a subject change, you will need to wait for the system or a course adviser to approve your selection prior to being generated an online timetable in Alloc8. If you are unable to resolve your timetable and wish to be listed in a different tutorial or lecture stream than those allocated to you through Alloc8, you must seek assistance from the relevant School via email.
It is important to note that casual work commitments or preference for a certain class are not considered valid reasons for allocation changes.
