What Subjects Are Available in 2010?

The current subjects available in the Bachelor of Creative arts and Honours are listed at the top of the page.

Alternatively you can go to the Course and Subject Handbook website to view subjects under Creative Arts, course code 413 CA or Honours course code 819 CA.

Can I Undertake Subjects Outside the Bachelor of Creative Arts Program?

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Arts can enrol in up to 25 (2x 12.5 subjects) points of complementary subjects (subjects outside of the Creative Arts program). You must have approval from the subject co-ordinator and present this to the Arts and Music Student Centre. Student Information System will not allow you to enrol in subjects outside the Bachelor of Creative Arts program, they have to entered manually be Arts and Music Student Centre staff.

 
Cross-institutional Subjects

Students can also apply to undertake cross institutional enrolments from other institutions: Permission may be granted by the Academic Programs Director, provided that you have a sound academic record (an H2B average with no 'fails') application and conditions are listed on the Cross-institutional Study web page.

 
Cross Listed Subjects

Cross listed subjects available to students in Creative Arts predominately from other study areas from the School of Culture and Communication, Art History and Cinema subjects which you directly enrol through Student Infromation System and are listed at the top of the page.

How Can I Change My Subjects?

Via your student portal during the subject change period, under the admin tab which takes you to the Student Information System web page. Students who wish to make an individual student appointment regarding course planning can do so from the Contact Us web page.

Can I Take Leave Of Absence This Semester?

We strongly recommend student complete the degree as the Faculty cannot guarantee Creative Arts subjects beyond 2010. Student's who plan to take Leave of Absence, must see a course advisor and a course plan must be in place before leave can be approved.

Can I Still Apply for Honours?

The last intake for Honours is March 2010, students who have successfully completed their Bachelor of Creative Arts and meet selection criteria will be eligible. Applications for mid year are available (July intake) or 2010 applications will be available October (March intake). For more information please see the list at the top of the page.

Study Abroad

Creative Art students can apply to undertake exchange through Melbourne Global Mobility. Please see application and due dates at the Melbourne Global Mobility website.

The Basic Rules

The Bachelor of Creative Arts requires the completion of 300 points of study, comprising:

  • at least 87.5 but no more than 125 points at first year level;
  • at least 87.5 but no more than 125 points at second year level;
  • a minimum of 75 but no more than 125 points at third year level; and
  • the completion of at least one major sequence.
What Do I Need For A Major?

A major consists of 100 points (minimum) from the areas of Creative Writing, Theatre Studies, Visual Media:

  • 2 level 1 subjects
  • 2 level 2 subjects
  • 4 level 3 subjects
