Undergraduate Admission - Application Procedures
There are two ways of applying for undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Arts. Most applications must be made through VTAC, but some applications should be made directly to the Faculty of Arts.
Who should apply through VTAC?
The following applicants should apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC):
- Those applying to commence a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications), Bachelor of Creative Arts, or a combined course
- Current year 12 students from any state, transferring students and non-year 12 applicants
- Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents
- International students who are currently studying the VCE or IB in Victoria
- Students applying to resume a degree in which they were previously enrolled
Applications can be made online through the VTAC website. The VTAC Guide provides full details regarding the application process, courses available, prerequisite subjects and special requirements. Applications close on 30 September. VTAC may accept late applications until their published late closing date, however a late fee may apply. See important dates for VTAC selection.
While the application procedures are administered by VTAC, the Faculty of Arts selection committee is responsible for all selection decisions. Selection is based on academic merit.
Access Melbourne
To achieve increased participation of prospective students from diverse backgrounds the University has developed Access Melbourne, a combined special entry and access scholarship scheme. For further details about Access Melbourne.
Indigenous Australians
The Faculty of Arts encourages applications from indigenous Australians through the VTAC process. Indigenous Australians are encouraged to also lodge an application for Access Melbourne, to enhance opportunities for slection into courses and awards of scholarships. The following applications should be made directly to the Faculty of Arts:
