Objectives
The Postgraduate Research Support Scheme has three main objectives:
- Information: to provide a central Faculty forum for information and advice on every aspect of research candidature for postgraduates in all schools of the faculty. Seminars are topic-specific and include distribution of information sheets on most scheduled topics, a structured talk by the convenor, and time for questions and discussion.
- Networks: to give you an opportunity to meet your peers from other schools, compare experiences and research environments, form networks of mutual support and shared academic interests, make friends and mitigate the sense of isolation often experienced by research postgraduates.
- Support: to offer you an opportunity to discuss any individual problems or needs on a one-to-one basis with a staff member who is neither your supervisor nor an office-holder in your own school and who has extensive experience in postgraduate matters. When required, the convenor will act as a mediator between you and your school and assist in resolving any problems you may have.
Research students may also wish to attend the Postgraduate Essentials - Completion and Beyond seminars.
Further information can be found at the Postgraduate Essentials web page.
