| Graduate Research Programs Available |
Our graduate research programs offer you the opportunity to specialise and explore critical thinking in a particular Arts discipline.
Local students do not pay tuition fees for research study. These students are offered graduate research places under the Commonwealth Government's Research Training Scheme (RTS). Research Training Scheme places are Commonwealth supported with a Commonwealth Support Place (CSP) exemption for the normal duration of the course. |

| Research Degrees and Supervision |
Arts offers Masters by Research and PhD degrees in more than 40 areas of study across the humanities, social sciences and languages. More than 200 Arts academic research staff currently supervise graduate research students. |
| Finding a Supervisor and Research Proposals |
To assist you in researching potential supervisors, the University's Find an Expert website lists the contact details and research areas and enables you to search by topic, name, faculty or school. In applying for a research degree you are also required to submit a 2,500 word research proposal of the intended project and a writing sample. (Process for Local Applicants)Applications for admission into the Research Programs offered by the Faculty of Arts in Semester 1, 2010 close on Friday 30th October 2009. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application from Monday 21 December 2009 . All PhD and Master of Arts by Research applications must be lodged with the Arts and Music Student Centre by 5pm on Friday 30th October 2009: Arts Research Arts and Music Student Centre (Process for International Applicants)Applications for admission into the Research Programs offered by the Faculty of Arts are accepted at any time of the year. | Scholarships |
Available scholarships for Graduate Research Students can be found on the Melbourne Scholarships Office website. Please note Local Applicants must lodge an application form for entry into the course and a seperate application form to be considered for a scholarship by the closing date. In 2010, the Faculty of Arts is offering top-up scholarships to selected outstanding interstate PhD applicants who are successful Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) recipients. All eligible PhD applicants will automatically be considered for a top-up scholarship when applying for an Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship. Further information on the top up scholarship. |
