Faculty Executive
Terms of reference
Faculty Executive has major responsibility for the formulation of policy, concentrating on major strategic issues, in association with appropriate faculty committees and Faculty Board itself. It ensures that the formulation, refinement and implementation of policy and priorities are in harmony with established and developing University policy and priorities. It serves as the coordinating and steering committee for faculty business, particularly in respect of policy matters.
Faculty Executive also acts as a "sounding board" and provides advice to the Dean with respect to faculty policies and priorities, particularly when issues arise to which are required extremely rapid responses. In this latter capacity, Executive acts as a senior management group in dealing with urgent or administrative issues, but the responsibility for any decisions rests with the Dean.
Faculty Executive advises SCHD and others as appropriate with respect to preferred and alternative methods of resource allocation to enable faculty to implement its policies and to meet it priorities.
Faculty Executive shall consider and, as appropriate, make recommendations on proposals for award of honorary Litt.D. degrees, and shall consider proposals and advise the Dean on acceptability for candidature for Litt.D. by examination.
The Executive will advise SCHD on all aspects of student numbers in the Faculty including subject sub quotas and the distribution of student load in the Faculty.
