Faculty Conference Support Scheme
In 2008, the Faculty will make available limited funding for conferences proposed for 2009.

Funding
Funding is available for the following:
Faculty will fund three to four grants ($10,000) to support major conferences run by Schools within the Faculty.
Eligibility
Consideration will be given to all applications but preference may be given to applications which:
- involve international speakers
- attract a wide audience including postgraduates
- will result in the publication of refereed conference proceedings in either book or journal format; preference will be given to publications that are likely to reach an international audience (e.g. the publisher or journal is international).
Note: Conferences operating on society subsidies will not be eligible for funding under the Faculty scheme.
Fundable Items
Items fundable under the scheme, ie. organisational costs include:
- employment of a postgraduate research (as per RA rates) to devote time to the organisation of the conference under the supervision of an academic in the dept;
- costs associated with gaining sponsorship, designing and producing a program, costs of advertising (inc. posters and journal ads), and venue hiring.
- part subsidy of international speakers costs where this is incentive for involvement and will increase the profile of the conference (excludes visiting scholars funded under the Faculty scheme);
- catering;
- special audio visual requirements;
- security; campus parking.
Application process
Applications will be considered by the Associate Dean (Research). Out-of-round applications will not be considered.
Applications will be accepted in any format (maximum five (5) pages excluding quotes) but should
- include a brief overview of the proposed conference
- include a detailed budget (including quotes for advertising, venue hire etc); and
- address the above listed eligibility criteria.
